My shabby corner

Ecco un po' di foto per farvi vedere il mio makeover...

Si tratta di una mensolina in mdf che ho trattato con dello smalto color panna e opportunamente grattato nei bordi con una paglietta.

E' un angolo piccolo, ma io ne sono assolutamente soddisfatta e fiera.

Raccoglie 4 oggetti ai quali sono molto legata.

La foto al centro ritrae il mio ometto, ormai 33enne. E' contornata da una cornice shabby bianca, fatta qualche mese fa. A destra trovate un cestino, regalatomi da mia nonna. Ha oltre 50 anni e siccome è stato usato assiduamente negli anni (per raccogliere le uova) era molto consumato.

Mi sono permessa di darci una mano di colore mal data, così da lasciare uscire gli intrecci nel loro colore originale.

Antologia di Spoon River

Questa pagina differisce un po' dalle solite relative alla cucina, al craft e alla casa...

Oggi vorrei parlarvi di letteratura.

-In realtà, non proprio.-

La poesia in particolare, mi riporta alle cose importanti della vita, e mi aiuta a riflettere.

Un po' di downshifting pret-à-porter in pratica.

Mi è sempre piaciuta moltissimo la letteratura, quella straniera in primis. E a circa 16 anni ho scoperto il mio più grande amore, Edgar Lee Masters.

Poeta americano, Lee Masters è vissuto a cavallo tra l'Ottocento e il Novecento, e nel 1915 ha pubblicato l'opera alla quale il suo nome è rimasto legato: L'Antologia di Spoon River.

Today I want to talk about literature.

The poetry in particular, reminds me of the important things in life, and helps me think.

American poet, Lee Masters lived at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and in 1915 published the work to which his name has been linked: The Anthology of Spoon River.

Edgar Lee Masters, con la sua opera, è stato un punto di riferimeno per la poesia del Novecento, ed è stato citato da De André e da Francesco Guccini, in alcune loro canzoni.

Io, personalmente, adoro ogni poesia di questa raccolta. 

Inizialmente, mi aveva colpito moltissimo poichè ogni poesia racconta, in forma di epitaffio, la vita di una delle persone sepolte nel cimitero di un piccolo paesino immaginario della provincia americana.

Non vi ho annoiati troppo, vero?

Oggi vorrei condividere con voi alcune istantanee del mio house-restyling, e raccontarvi a che punto è la situazione.

Punto primo: sono distrutta! Ho trascorso dei giorni di fuoco in un vortice di riordina-pulisci-metti via più smontaggio e montaggio dei mobili, fortunatamente mio papà e il mio ometto mi sono stati decisamente d'aiuto e di conforto in momenti di "ma chi me l'ha fatto fare?"

Ecco l'update della mia TO-DO list:

1. sostituire i due armadi vecchi e cadenti a pezzi con altrettanti nuovi, più capienti e facili da pulire. FATTO!!!!
2. sostituire l'armadio del disimpegno con un modulo da cabina armadio, si ancora al soffitto. FATTO!!!
3. spostare alcuni di questi mobili. FATTO!!
4. ridipingere la cassapanca porta stivali
5. ridipingere la cucina
6. sostituire la testata del letto, inguardabile, con un semplice pannello di compensato rivestito di stoffa. ...MODIFICATO IL PROGETTO. Ho rivestito la testata con una stoffina con le rose.
7. ridipingere i due scaffali di legno. MODIFICATO IL PROGETTO. Tolti!!!
8. ridipingere l'armadietto dei forni
9. tinteggiare dove è uscita la macchia di umidità 
10. cambiare le ciotole del cane. FATTO!!

Direi che posso dichiararmi soddisfatta!

Today I would like to share with you some snapshots of my house-makeover, and to tell what extent is the situation.

Point one:I am sooo tired! I spent firy days  in a whirlwind of reorder-cleaner-put away plus the furniture removal and, fortunately, my dad and my little man have been very helpful and comforting in times of "why did I start all this?? "

Here is the update of my TO-DO list:

    1. replace the two old cabinets and falling to pieces with as many new, more capacious and easyto clean. DONE!!
    2. replace the cabinet with a form of disengagement from walk-in closet, is still the ceiling.DONE!
    3. move some of this furniture. DONE!
    4. repaint the chest leads boots
    5. repainting the kitchen
    6. replace the head of the bed, unwatchable, with a simple panel of plywood covered withfabric.ALTERED ... THE PROJECT. I covered the head with a fabric with roses.
    7. repainting the two wooden shelves. CHANGED THE PROJECT. Removed!
    8. repainting the cabinet ovens
    9. where the paint came out damp spot
   10. change the bowls of dog. DONE!

I would say that I can declare myself satisfied!

 

 

Ho voluto fotografare alcuni momenti drammatici in quest'avventura, così quando sarà tutto a posto potremo riguardarle e riderci un pochino... ah ah ah.

 Sono anche riuscita a liberarmi di un bel po' di cose, alcune regalate, altre vendute, altre date alla Caritas... Alla fine, mi sono resa conto che non erano l'oggetto o l'indumento ad essere importanti per me, bensì il ricordo di un certo momento o di una certa occasione... 

Ero affezionata a ciò che rappresentavano. Allora, seguendo una cinica filosofia autoelaborata, ho riempito i sacchi, così potranno esserne di giovamento per persone meno fortunate di me.

 

Le linee guida erano date da 3 domande per i vestiti:

1. L'ho indossato nell'ultimo anno?
2. Mi va ancora?
3. Può servire a qualcun altro?

Se la risposta era negativa per una delle prime due e positiva per le terza, allora l'indumento in questione andava nel sacco, altrimenti restava nell'armadio.

I wanted to photograph some dramatic moments in this adventure, so when it's all right we affect them, and laugh a little ... ah ah ah.
  I even managed to get rid of a lot 'of things, some gifted, some sold and some given for Caritas ... Eventually, I realized that they were not the object or garment to be important for me, but the memory of a certain time or a certain occasion ...
I was fond of what they represented. Then, following a cynical philosophy self made, I filled the bags, so these items can be of benefit to people less fortunate than me.

The guidelines were given by 3 questions for clothes:

Quando sarà tutto finito, vi mostrerò i risultati, di cui per ora sono già contenta. 

Certo, l'appartamento è veramente piccolino ino ino, ma... nell'attesa della casa nuova ci si accontanta di ciò che si ha, no?

TO DO LIST

Eccomi di nuovo qui dopo una settimana intensa di lavori!

Scusate per l'ultimo post, ma un po' di sana autocritica era d'obbligo; a questo pro ringrazio Katia e Katty che con i loro consigli mi sono state accanto.

Ho trovato anche un blog carino, totalmente incentrato sul vivere al minimo, si chiama Minimoblog. Dateci un'occhiata, è assolutamente piacevole e soprattutto offre degli spunti pratici per effettuare al meglio il proprio decluttering.

Decluttering?

E' stato così definito in area anglosassone la risistemazione o riordino di ambienti in cui regnano il disordine e lo squilibrio estetico ed energetico. Vecchi oggetti, piante marcescenti, mobili impolverati o ingombri, soprammobili in esubero, scatoloni sotto i letti o sopra gli armadi non solo offendono lo sguardo e intralciano la vita quotidiana nell'ambiente abitativo, ma fanno ristagnare l'energia negativa accumulando sha in ogni punto della casa. Declutter significa togliere tutto ciò che è superfluo, che crea ingombro, che impedisce alle energie (e spesso anche alle persone!) di circolare liberamente per la casa.

I'm back here after an intense week of work!
Sorry for the last post, but a bit 'of healthy self-criticism was a must, and this pro I thank Katty and Katya for their advice I have been close to.
I also found a cute blog, totally focused on living to a minimum, is called Minimoblog. Check it out, is absolutely enjoyable and above all, offers practical tips for making the most of your decluttering.

Decluttering?

It 'been defined in the Anglo-Saxon rearrangement or reordering of environments where disorder reigns and the aesthetic imbalance and energy. Old objects, decaying plants, furniture dusted, no clutter, excess knickknacks, boxes under beds or on top of the cabinets not only offend the eye and hinder daily life in residential areas, but are stagnant negative energy accumulated at each point sha the house. Declutter means removing everything that is unnecessary, that creates bulk, that prevents the energy (and often also to the people!) To move freely around the house.

Ora, in piena filosofia di sbarazzo, ho stilato una to-do list da rispettare. -spero di farcela-

Autocritica - SELF CRITICISM

Un velocissimo post di autocritica.

Sono un'accumulatrice. Esageratamente accumulatrice.

Cavolo.

Non mi ero mai resa conto di quante cose avessi accumulato in 4 anni, vivo in quest'appartamentino dal 2008 e sono riuscita a mettere da parte ogni sorta di oggetto, di ogni tipo, forma e dimensione.

I'm an accumulative. Over-accumulative.
Damned!
I never realized how much I had accumulated in four years, I live in this mini flat since 2008 and I have been able to put aside all sorts of objects, of all types, shapes and sizes.

Alcuni esempi? Forse è meglio non farli... 

Mi trovo in questa situazione poichè ho deciso per un upgrade profondo di casa, di cambiare qualche mobile, migliorare qualcosa, ridipingere qualcos'altro... Ho considerato che potesse essere utile dirottare in una seconda casa tutto ciò non strettamente necessario per la sopravvivenza.

Ed è iniziato l'incubo.

Su consiglio di mia mamma, mentre impacchettavo, avevo a disposizione un grosso sacco dell'immondizia per prendere decisioni "importanti" per così dire... Risultato? Ho buttato due o tre cose. E basta. Neanche le riviste sono riuscita ad archiviare...

Some examples? I probably should not have them ...
I am in this situation because I decided for a  deep upgrade of my house, some furniture to change, improve something, repainting something else ...  I considered that it might be useful to hijack in a second home all that is not strictly necessary for survival.
And the nightmare began.
On the advice of my mother, while packaging, I had available a large garbage bag to make decisions "important"... Result? I threw two or three things. It is enough. Even magazines I was unable to store...

Mi consola l'idea che la mia casetta sarà presto totalmente diversa e che forse avrò un piccolo Craft corner... 

Nell'attesa che la nostra casa nuova sia  pronta.

Judson Beaumont è canadese, "figlio d'arte" dei maestri Gehry, Starck, Pee Wee Herman dai quali prende ispirazione.

Pensate che è formata da ben 618 pezzi di betulla del Baltico, tagliati singolarmente.

I must say it was an interesting discovery this Canadian artist. And I admit that I liked talking about design and decor, for the first time. I really like the design, I am totally passionate, and each new author is a new love.

Particolarmente, mi piacciono i mobili che sono stati ispirati dal mondo animato, come la cassettiera-fisarmonica o quella che sembra spaccarsi a metà. Non sembra anche a voi di essere immersi in Alice nel Paese delle meraviglie?

 Di sicuro, se mi capiterà di volare a Vancouver, andrò alla ricerca del laboratorio di questo ironico artista.

 Particularly, I like furniture that has been inspired by the animated world, such as the accordion-drawers or one that seems to split in half. Doesn't it seem to you to be immersed in Alice in Wonderland?

Ecco le 7 cose su di me:

1. Mi piace cucinare, di tutto. Specialmente i dolci. E si vede.
2. Non mi piace per nulla pulire, riassettare, sistemare. Faccio il minimo indispensabile. Rimando finchè possibile, e poi mi pento e mi sento in colpa.
3. Mi imbarazza in una maniera incredibile ricevere dei complimenti o delle confidenze particolarmente notevoli... In entrambi i casi non so mai cosa dire, come rispondere...
4. Vorrei riuscire a prendere i mezzi pubblici per andare a lavorare, ma sono troppo pigra per farlo.
5. Adoro gli animali, specialmente i cani. Sono innamorata del mio 4zampette Eddie, ma voglio bene anche a tutti gli altri (e ne ho un sacco, ve lo assicuro...)
6. Devo ancora imparare a contare fino a 200 prima di parlare.
7. All'epoca avevo scelto il liceo linguistico per potermi allontanare il più possibile dall'italiano... ed ora ne tengo le classi di recupero!!

1. I like cooking. Everything. Especially desserts and cakes. And you can notice it.
2. I don' t like cleaning, tidying up. I do it as rarely as I can. I do the bare minimum. I delay as long as possible, and then I repent and I feel guilty. 
3. I'm embarrassed beyond belief to receive a compliment or confidences of any particular importance ... In both cases I never know what to say, how to respond ...
4.  I wish I could take public means of transport to go to work, but I'm too lazy to do it.
5.  I love animals, especially dogs. I'm in love with my 4legs Eddie, but I love also to all others (and I have a lot, I assure you ...)
6.  I have yet to learn to count to 200 before I speak.
7. At the time I had chosen the linguistic high school so I could remove as much as possible from Italian ... and now I get to keep the remedial classes!
